SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Arthur Robles, 68, of Yucaipa, has been appointed administrator at the Veterans Home of California, Barstow, where he has served as acting administrator since 2014. He served as acting administrator at the Veterans Home of California, Redding in 2014 and at the Veterans Home of California, Fresno from 2013 to 2014. Robles was resident hospital administrator at the Veterans Home of California, West Los Angeles in 2013 and administrator at the Veterans Home of California, Barstow from 2010 to 2012, where he was assistant hospital administrator from 2009 to 2010 and from 2000 to 2005. He was a health facility evaluator at the California Department of Public Health from 2006 to 2008 and from 1990 to 2000 and an area agent at the California Department of Developmental Services from 1982 to 1990. Robles served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1971 and is a member of the American Legion. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $130,008. Robles is a Democrat.
Michelle Anne Bholat, 57, of Redondo Beach, has been appointed to the Medical Board of California. Bholat has been executive vice chair at the University of California, Los Angeles Department of Family Medicine since 2008, where she served as vice chair of clinical affairs from 2004 to 2008 and chief of clinical operations from 1999 to 2004. She was medical director at the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, Wilmington Family Health Center from 1995 to 1999. Bholat is an expert consultant for the Medical Board of California and is a member of the American Heart Association, Los Angeles Board of Directors, Beach Cities Health District Board of Directors, Los Angeles County Public Health Commission, California Academy of Family Physicians and the National Hispanic Medical Association. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree in health care policy and management from the University of California, Los Angeles. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Bholat is a Democrat.
Randy W. Hawkins, 61, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the Medical Board of California. Hawkins has been assistant professor at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science since 2014 and a physician and surgeon in private practice since 1986. He is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary and critical care medicine. Hawkins is president of the Charles R. Drew Medical Society of Los Angeles and is a member of the Golden State Medical Association of California, American Thoracic Society, California Thoracic Society, Trudeau Society of Los Angeles and the National Medical Association. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Hahnemann Medical College. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Hawkins is a Democrat.
