SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the death of Stockton Police Department Officer Scott Hewell:
“Anne and I are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Stockton Police Officer Scott Hewell. Our thoughts are with his friends, family and the entire law enforcement community during this difficult time.”
Officer Hewell, 33, of Sacramento, died today from injuries sustained in a collision while responding to a report of a shooting on May 28, 2014.
Officer Hewell served at the Stockton Police Department for nearly two years, where he was assigned after graduating from the Sacramento Police Department Basic Academy. He graduated from San Francisco State University. Officer Hewell is survived by his mother.
In honor of Officer Hewell, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
