Governor and First Lady Honor Sgt. Tyler N. Holtz

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Sgt. Tyler N. Holtz, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Sgt. Holtz’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Sgt. Tyler N. Holtz, 22, of Dana Point, CA., died September 24 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Holtz was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
