SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. today issued a proclamation declaring May 7-15, 2011, as “Travel and Tourism Week” in the State of California.
The text of the proclamation is below:
PROCLAMATION
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
California’s majestic scenery, thrilling sporting events, world-class museums and art galleries attract millions of visitors to our state each year.
Last year visitors spent nearly $90 billion in our local communities. This money has an enormous impact on employment and can serve as a catalyst to grow our economy.
In addition to its economic effect, travel and tourism builds cultural understanding and fosters diversity. It inspires personal growth and serves as a source of continuous learning.
California travel is all about living life to the fullest, and we have more attractions than any other place in the world. I encourage others to come and experience the many regions of our Golden State, and discover the California dream for themselves.
NOW THEREFORE I, EDMUND G. BROWN JR., Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim May 7-15, 2011, as “Travel and Tourism Week.”
