SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Alexander Kim, 45, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Kim has been founder and principal at Three Kings Public Affairs since 2017. He was a senior advisor for Los Angeles City Council member David Ryu from 2015 to 2017, community relations manager and public affairs manager at the Southern California Gas Company from 2011 to 2015, deputy director and community liaison in the Los Angeles Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger from 2004 to 2010 and central area director and Asian Pacific community liaison in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office from 2001 to 2004. Kim is a member of the University of California, Irvine Korean American Alumni Association, Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce, Anti-Defamation League of LA Community Council, Orange County District Attorney’s Korean-American Advisory Commission, Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance Board, New Way California Board, Asian Americans Advancing Justice Orange County Community Advisory Board, JVS SoCal Public Policy Board and the Korean American Coalition of Los Angeles Advisory Board. He is vice-chair of the PBS SoCal Community Council and a fellow at the Network of Korean-American Leaders. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Pepperdine University Business School. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Kim is a Republican.
Gabriel Lam, 42, of Calexico, has been appointed to the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Lam has been a psychotherapist in private practice since 2015 and a lecturer at San Diego State University since 2013. He was a psychotherapist at Sun Valley Behavioral Medical Center from 2007 to 2015. Lam is a member of the National Association of Social Workers. He earned a Master of Social Work degree from the San Diego State University School of Social Work. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Lam is a Democrat.
Vicka Stout, 66, of Bishop, has been appointed to the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Stout has been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1978. She was a school counselor for the Bishop Unified School District from 1989 to 2017, a member of the Patton State Hospital Advisory Board from 1980 to 1986 and a juvenile services counselor and a psychotherapist for Inyo County Community Mental Health Services from 1977 to 1989. She earned a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from Loyola Marymount University. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Stout is a Democrat.
