SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Christie Bautista, 40, of Glendale, has been appointed special assistant for program review at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, where she has served as a senior environmental scientist since 2013 and as an environmental scientist from 2006 to 2013. Bautista was president of the American Society for Public Administration, Southern California Chapter from 2014 to 2016, fire and environmental specialist at the Glendale Fire Department from 2004 to 2006 and staff environmental consultant at Clayton Group Services from 2002 to 2004. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, Northridge. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $133,584. Bautista is a Democrat.
Debbie Lumpkin, 46, of Los Angeles, has been appointed deputy inspector general for diversity and small business development in the Office of Audits and Investigations at the California Department of Transportation. Lumpkin has been founder and partner at Debbie E. Lumpkin Consulting LLC since 2013. She held several positions at Southern California Edison from 1994 to 2013, including principal manager of supplier diversity and contract management, senior manager of call center business operations, hardware and software asset senior manager of the transmission and distribution business unit and labor relations senior project manager. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $140,004. Lumpkin is a Democrat.
