SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Melanie Perron, 37, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy secretary for legislation at the California State Transportation Agency. Perron has served as assistant deputy director of legislation at the California Department of Transportation since 2013. She was legislative manager at the California Department of Conservation from 2010 to 2013, legislative coordinator at the California Department of General Services from 2008 to 2010 and a legislative assistant in the Governor’s Office from 2007 to 2008. Perron was an executive assistant and scheduler in the Office of Assemblymember Rick Keene from 2004 to 2006. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $125,004. Perron is registered without party preference.
Joseph Uchishiba, 48, of Vacaville, has been appointed to the Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council. Uchishiba has been a police officer for the City of Fairfield Police Department’s Homeless Intervention Team since 2014, where he has held several positions since 1995, including crisis intervention team leader, youth diversion officer, youth services officer and crime suppression officer. He was a deputy sheriff at the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office from 1994 to 1995 and a reserve police officer at the City of Vallejo Police Department from 1991 to 1994. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Uchishiba is a Republican.
Richard Maullin, 77, of Santa Monica, has been reappointed to the California Independent System Operator Board of Governors, where he has served since 2011. Maullin was a partner at Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz and Associates from 1981 to 2017. Maullin earned Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $20,000, in addition to per diem meeting preparation and attendance costs. Maullin is a Democrat.
Donald Cameron, 65, of Helm, has been reappointed to the California State Board of Food and Agriculture, where he has served since 2014, and designated president of the board. Cameron has been vice president at Terranova Ranch Incorporated since 1981. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cameron is a Democrat.
Michael Anderson, 66, of Fort Bragg, has been appointed to the 12th District Agricultural Association, Redwood Empire Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2006. Anderson has been owner at Anderson Lodging Incorporated since 1976. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Anderson is a Republican.
Casey Burris, 42, of Ukiah, has been reappointed to the 12th District Agricultural Association, Redwood Empire Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2011. Burris has been vice president of operations at J.A. Sutherland Inc. since 2000. He held several positions at the Savings Bank of Mendocino County from 1991 to 2000, including information technology specialist, purchasing agent and vault teller. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Burris is registered without party preference.
Roger Coate, 67, of Ukiah, has been appointed to the 12th District Agricultural Association, Redwood Empire Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2003. Coate has been president at Team Insurance and Financial Services Incorporated since 2003. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Coate is a Democrat.
Charles Coleman, 61, of Redwood Valley, has been reappointed to the 12th District Agricultural Association, Redwood Empire Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2008. He served in several positions at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection from 1973 to 2006, including fire captain, firefighter and fire apparatus engineer. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Coleman is a Democrat.
Eric Crawford, 49, of Ukiah, has been reappointed to the 12th District Agricultural Association, Redwood Empire Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2011. Crawford has been a career technical education coordinator for the Ukiah Unified School District since 2016. He was an agriculture science instructor at the Mendocino County Office of Education from 1997 to 2016 and an agriculture science instructor at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education from 1995 to 1997. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Crawford is registered without party preference.
Roberto Muniz, 47, of Redwood Valley, has been reappointed to the 12th District Agricultural Association, Redwood Empire Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2003. He has been a claims specialist at the U.S. Social Security Administration since 2003. Muniz served in several positions at the Mendocino County Welfare Office from 1993 to 2003, including employment representative. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Muniz is a Democrat.
Bonnie Atmore, 49, of Ventura, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Atmore was president and chief executive officer at FOOD Share Inc. from 2008 to 2017 and executive director of the California Strawberry Festival from 2005 to 2008. Atmore is president of the Rancho Ventura Conservation Trust and a member of the California Rangeland Trust Board of Directors and the Ventura County Coalition of Agriculture, Business and Labor Foundation Board. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Atmore is a Republican.
Daniel Long, 60, of Ventura, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Long has been a commercial painting contractor since 1978 and owner at Daniel Long Painting since 1991. He is a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and a member of the Ventura Planning Commission. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Long is a Democrat.
Armando Lopez, 72, of Oxnard, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2003. Lopez has been owner at the Armando Lopez Company since 1984. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Lopez is registered without party preference.
