Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

 

Douglas McCauley, 53, of Sacramento, has been appointed chief deputy director at the California Department of Housing and Community Development. McCauley has been executive officer at the California Architects Board since 2001. He was executive vice president at the California Coalition for Construction in the Classroom from 1999 to 2001 and a senior director of public affairs at California Building Officials from 1992 to 1999. McCauley earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $161,760. McCauley is a Democrat.

 

Myriam Bouaziz, 35, of Fairfield, has been appointed deputy director of legislation in the Office of Tax Appeals. Bouaziz has been a consultant and floor staff for the Office of California State Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León since 2017. She was a consultant for the California State Senate from 2014 to 2017, senior legislative assistant in the Office of California State Assemblymember Roger Dickinson from 2011 to 2014 and programmatic access specialist at the San Francisco Mayor’s Office on Disability from 2009 to 2011. Bouaziz was a case manager at the Marin Child Care Council from 2007 to 2008. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $130,500. Bouaziz is a Democrat.

 

Lawrence Garcia, 46, of Fresno, has been appointed to the California Alarm Company Operator Disciplinary Review Committee. He has been president and chief executive officer at AmeriGuard Security Services Inc. since 2000. Garcia held several positions at Aztec Global Security Services from 1988 to 2000, including security officer, lead guard and site and area supervisor. He was an emergency room technician at Valley Children’s Hospital from 1998 to 2000, an emergency medical technician at American Ambulance from 1993 to 1998, a firefighter at the North Central Fire Protection District from 1994 to 1996 and damage controlman second class E-5 for the U.S. Navy from 1989 to 1993. Garcia is a member of the City of Fresno Planning Commission, Western Agricultural Processors Association, Fresno County Economic Development Corporation, Fresno Association of Realtors and the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Garcia is registered without party preference.
