Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Gary K. Johnson, 68, of Porterville, has been reappointed to the Porterville Developmental Center Advisory Board, where he has served since 2016. Johnson has been a part-time instructor at Porterville College since 1978. He was program director at the Porterville Developmental Center from 2001 to 2011, where he held several positions from 1976 to 1999, including standards compliance coordinator, assistant to the executive director, acting director of away from home services and acting director of quality assurance. Johnson was program director at Agnews Developmental Center from 1999 to 2001 and director of volunteer services and therapeutic activities at the Veterans Home of California, Yountville from 1975 to 1976. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, Fresno. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Johnson is a Republican.

Matthew Olson, 58, of Santa Maria, has been appointed to the 37th District Agricultural Association, Santa Maria Fairpark Board of Directors. Olson served in several positions at the California Highway Patrol from 1988 to 2014, including state traffic officer, sergeant, lieutenant and captain. He was a self-employed landscaper from 1981 to 1987. Olson is a member of the Orcutt Hill 4-H Club, International Footprint Association Chapter 73 and the Knights of Columbus Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Olson is a Republican.
