Governor Brown to Survey Wildfire Impacts, Meet with State, Local and Federal Officials and Emergency Responders in Ventura County Tomorrow

VENTURA – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will survey wildfire damage, meet with residents impacted by the fires and join state, local and federal officials at the Thomas Fire Incident Command Post in Ventura County tomorrow. The Governor will hold a media availability at the conclusion of the private briefing.

When: Tomorrow, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at approx. 12:00 p.m. (immediately following private briefing with emergency management officials.)
Where: Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura, CA 93001.

Governor Brown today announced that the state has secured a presidential declaration, requested last night, which provides direct federal assistance to support the emergency response to the wildfires burning in Southern California. Earlier this week, the Governor issued emergency proclamations for Santa Barbara, San Diego, Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) has activated the State Operations Center in Mather, California to its highest level and is coordinating with local, state and federal emergency response officials to address all emergency management needs.
