SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Nancy C. Miller, 64, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California High-Speed Rail Authority Board of Directors. Miller has been a partner at Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai LLP since 2015. She was president at Miller, Owen & Trost from 1992 to 2015, where she was principal and shareholder from 1983 to 1991 and a partner from 1979 to 1982. Miller is a member of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law Board of Trustees and KVIE Public Television Board of Directors. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Miller is a Democrat.
Angeli Agatep, 59, of Santa Monica, has been appointed to the State Bar of California Examining Committee. Agatep has been an internal medicine physician at the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center since 1989. She was a physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from 1986 to 1989, where she was a registered nurse from 1978 to 1982. Agatep is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Agatep is a Democrat.
Renee LaBran, 57, of La Cañada Flintridge, has been reappointed to the State Bar of California Board of Trustees, where she has served since 2015. LaBran has been business advisor, board director and a partner at Rustic Canyon-Fontis Partners since 2006. She was a partner at Rustic Canyon Partners from 2000 to 2011 and held several positions at the Los Angeles Times from 1993 to 1999, including vice president. She was a management consultant at the Monitor Company from 1985 to 1993. LaBran earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $50 per diem. LaBran is a Democrat.
