The conference is part of the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment Sharon Dijksma’s four-day climate trade mission to California and builds on California’s ongoing partnership with the Netherlands to boost energy efficiency and fight climate change. In 2015, the Netherlands joined the Under2 Coalition – the global pact among cities, states and countries to limit the increase in global average temperature to below 2 degrees Celsius. The Netherlands also joined California and Quebec in 2015 to launch the International Zero-Emission Vehicle Alliance, an international coalition created to accelerate the adoption of global zero-emission vehicles. Additionally, California signed a Letter of Intent with the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment in 2013 to cooperate on zero-emission vehicles and climate change and in 2015 signed a Letter of Intent with the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs to further collaboration on sustainable agricultural technology and practices.
