Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Barry Anderson, 56, of Danville, has been appointed to the California Earthquake Early Warning Advisory Board. Anderson has been vice president of electric distribution at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company since 2016, where he was vice president of emergency preparedness and response from 2012 to 2016 and senior director of distribution system operations from 2011 to 2012. He held several positions at Florida Power and Light from 1983 to 2011, including senior director of network operations and director of contract operations. Anderson is a member of the California Homeland Security Advisory Committee and the American Red Cross of the Bay Area Board of Directors. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Anderson is a Republican.

Jasmeet Kaur Bains, 31, of Bakersfield, has been appointed to the California Healthcare Workforce Policy Commission. Bains has been a family medicine resident for the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program at Clinica Sierra Vista since 2015 and a medical assistant at Comprehensive Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates and a medical fellow at Central Valley Pain Management since 2014. She has been a medical missionary for Heal Our World and for Global Medical Brigades since 2014 and a biology tutor at California State University, Bakersfield since 2007. She was a teacher assistant and laboratory tutor for anatomy at the American University of Antigua from 2010 to 2011 and a laboratory teacher assistant for biology at California State University, Bakersfield from 2007 to 2009. She is a member of the California Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Student Association, Illinois Institute of Technology Alumni Association and the American Medical Association. Bains earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of Antigua Medical School. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Bains is a Democrat.
