Governor and First Lady Honor Sgt. John P. Rodriguez

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Sgt. John P. Rodriguez, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol. Sgt. Rodriguez’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Sgt. John P. Rodriguez, 23, of Hemet, CA, died on January 12 at the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility in Kuwait, in a non-combat related incident that is under investigation. He was assigned to 2nd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, TX. Sgt. Rodriguez was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
