Governor Brown Appoints Michele M. Castillo to Ventura County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Michele M. Castillo to a judgeship in the Ventura County Superior Court.

Castillo, 47, of Camarillo, has served as a commissioner at the Ventura County Superior Court since 2014. She served as a deputy public defender at the Ventura County Public Defender’s Office from 2005 to 2014 and at the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office from 2003 to 2005. She was an attorney at the John A Barker, Alternate Defense Office from 2002 to 2005. Castillo earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Rebecca S. Riley. Castillo is a Democrat.

The compensation for this position is $189,041.
