Governor Brown to Attend Nuclear Security Summit Events in Washington, D.C. on Thursday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As leaders convene for the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will participate in panel discussions on Thursday in Washington, D.C. hosted by the Atlantic Council and Global Zero focused on how to reduce the threats posed by nuclear weapons.

Earlier this year, Governor Brown joined former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz and former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Perry to help unveil the latest Doomsday Clock from the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, which represents a metaphorical countdown to possible global catastrophe. Earlier this week, Governor Brown joined dozens of global leaders to sign on to a letter calling on all nations “to take action to prevent nuclear terrorism and a new arms race.”

Atlantic Council Panel: Beyond the Summit: Exploring New Approaches to Nuclear Security
Governor Brown and former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Perry will participate in a panel moderated by Atlantic Council vice president, Arnold Kanter chair, and director of the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security Barry Pavel on new approaches to reducing the threats posed by nuclear weapons.
