Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Andrew Genasci, 38, of Oakdale, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Genasci has been field staff for the California Farm Bureau Federation since 2011. He was a field representative at Duarte Nursery from 2009 to 2011, a dairy manager for 2 Ace Holsteins from 2003 to 2009 and assistant herd manager at Genasci Brothers Dairy Inc. from 2000 to 2003. Genasci is a member of the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau and Stanislaus County Holstein Breeders. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Genasci is a Republican.

Suzi Gonzalez, 47, of Lindsay, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where she has served since 2014. Gonzalez has been an instructor at the Milan Institute, Visalia Campus since 2011 and an independent marketing consultant since 2004. She served as member of the Lindsay City Council from 2005 to 2010 and was chief executive officer at Picaso’s Passion Inc. from 2004 to 2009. Gonzalez was an account executive at Buckley Broadcasting from 2001 to 2003 and a youth coordinator at Tulare County Community Services Employment Training from 1997 to 2001. She is a member of Walk With Me Family Services, Southeastern Tulare County Republican Women Federated and the Tulare County Economic Development Corporation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gonzalez is a Republican.

Raymond Gordon, 63, of Fresno, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where he has served since 2010. Gordon has been manager of human resources at JBT FoodTech since 2007. He was a human resource business partner at Children’s Hospital Central California from 2006 to 2007 and director of human resources for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno from 1997 to 2006. Gordon was director of staff relations at the Delano Regional Medical Center from 1995 to 1997, director of human resources at Standard Rent A Car from 1994 to 1995 and manager of human resources for San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital from 1989 to 1994. He is a member of Madera County Compact and the Greater Madera County Industrial Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gordon is a Republican.

Genoveva Islas, 47, of Tulare, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where she has served since 2013. Islas has been program director at the Public Health Institute’s Cultiva La Salud since 2012. She was regional program coordinator at the Fresno State Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program from 2005 to 2011. She was an area field representative for the California Department of Public Health’s California Diabetes Program from 2004 to 2005. Islas was an adjunct faculty member at Bakersfield College from 1997 to 2005 and health education supervisor at Kern Health Systems from 1993 to 1999. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Islas is a Democrat.

Carlton Jones, 42, of Tulare, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where he has served since 2015. Jones has been vice mayor of the City of Tulare City Council since 2012, where he served as a member from 2004 to 2008. He has been an engineer at the Fresno Fire Department since 2006, where he has served as a firefighter since 2002. Jones is a member of the Tulare Youth Athletic Association and is union president of the Fresno City Fire Fighters Local 753. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Jones is a Democrat.

Joe Oliveira, 69, of Gustine, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where he has served since 2010. Oliveira has served as a member of Gustine City Council since 1999. He was an associate distribution engineer at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company from 1967 to 2002. Oliveira is a member of the Gustine Lions Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Oliveira is a Democrat.

Billy Powell, 45, of Modesto, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013. Powell has been a business manager at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 684 since 2007. He was an instructor at the Central Valley Joint Apprenticeship Training Center from 2005 to 2007 and a journeyman electrician at the Industrial Electrical Company from 1995 to 2005. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Powell is a Democrat.

Francisco Ramirez, 34, of Hanford, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where he has served since 2015. Ramirez has been the owner of Hanford Times since 2016 and has served as vice mayor of the Hanford City Council since 2015, where he has been a member since 2014. He has been a business consultant at Ramirez Consulting since 2004. Ramirez is a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Ramirez is a Republican.

Mary Renner, 59, of Fresno, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where she has served since 2013. Renner has been chief operations officer at the Central Valley Health Network since 2012, where she was workforce development director from 2009 to 2012. She was chief of human resources at Clinica Sierra Vista from 2004 to 2008, a human resource director at United Health Centers from 2003 to 2004 and executive director at FLG Consulting from 2000 to 2003. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Renner is a Democrat.

Karen Ross, 64, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where she has served since 2011. Ross has served as secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture since 2011. She was chief of staff for U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack from 2010 to 2011 and president of the California Association of Winegrape Growers from 1996 to 2009. Ross was a member of the California State Board of Food and Agriculture from 2001 to 2009 and vice president of government relations for the Agricultural Council of California from 1989 to 1996. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Ross is a Democrat.

Luis Santana, 59, of Fresno, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board of Directors, where he has served since 2015. Santana has been executive director of Reading and Beyond since 1999. He was a consultant for the Kingsburg Community Assistance Program in 1998, director for recruitment and outreach at Centro Hispano de Estudios Teologicos from 1997 to 1998 and a missionary for Covenant World Missions from 1995 to 1997. Santana is a member of the California Department of Education, Grants Administration and Policy Implementation Team. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Santana is a registered without party preference.
