SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Mindy Simmons, 36, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director of legislative affairs at the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery. Simmons has been a legislative consultant in the Office of California State Senator Lois Wolk since 2009. She was water program manager at the Planning and Conservation League from 2003 to 2009. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $102,000. Simmons is a Democrat.
Pamela Haynes, 70, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Haynes has been a member of the Community College League of California Board since 2014 and the Los Rios Community College District Board of Trustees since 1999. She was a senior consultant for the California State Assembly Speaker’s Office of Member Services from 2005 to 2010, assistant director at the California Employment Training Panel from 2002 to 2004 and a legislative advocate at the California Labor Federation from 2001 to 2002. Haynes was program director at the Sacramento START program from 1998 to 2001, a principal consultant at Pamela M. Haynes Consulting from 1993 to 1997, associate governmental program analyst at the California Department of Health Care Services from 1995 to 1996 and staff auditor at the California Bureau of State Audits from 1989 to 1992. Haynes earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Haynes is a Democrat.
Kerry Dolphin, 50, of Pittsburg, has been appointed to the 23rd District Agricultural Association, Contra Costa County Fair Board of Directors. Dolphin has been a field operations specialist at Round Table Pizza since 2010. She was an operations manager at Seasonal Reflections Inc. from 2007 to 2009 and a store manager at Gymboree from 2005 to 2007 and at American Eagle Outfitters from 2003 to 2005. Dolphin was a general manager at Old Navy from 1995 to 2003. She is a member of Contra Costa County 4-H. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Dolphin is a Democrat.
Robert Hoffner, 71, of Brentwood, has been appointed to the 23rd District Agricultural Association, Contra Costa County Fair Board of Directors. Hoffner has been a farm owner since 1966. He is a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hoffner is a Republican.
Louis Mangini, 92, of Pleasant Hill, has been appointed to the 23rd District Agricultural Association, Contra Costa County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 1983. He has been owner at Mangini Farms since 1941. Mangini is a member of the Sheriff’s Posse of Contra Costa County. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Mangini is a Republican.
James “Doug” Dickson, 62, of Walnut Grove, has been appointed to the 52nd District Agricultural Association, Sacramento County Fair Board of Directors. He has been co-owner at River-Pear Orchards since 2013 and an exclusive agent at Harris Feeding Company since 2014, where he was director from 2009 to 2014. Dickson was vice president of commodities at Pacific Ethanol Inc. from 2005 to 2009, a dairy feed mill owner from 2003 to 2006 and vice president of grain at J.D. Heiskell and Company from 2001 to 2003. He was vice president of the Zacky Farms Feed Division from 1993 to 2001, a grain merchant at Foster Farms from 1983 to 1992, a branch manager at the Scoular Grain Company from 1981 to 1983 and a grain buyer at Cargill Inc. from 1976 to 1981. Dickson is a member of the California Grain and Feed Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Dickson is a Republican.
Caitlin Maple, 24, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the 52nd District Agricultural Association, Sacramento County Fair Board of Directors. She has been a research analyst at California Forward since 2015. Maple is a member of the Sacramento County Young Democrats, Habitat Young Professionals of Habitat for Humanity, Greater Sacramento and Fem Dems. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Maple is a Democrat.
Chris Myers, 45, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the 52nd District Agricultural Association, Sacramento County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. He has been executive director at the California Democratic Party since 2015, where he was managing director from 2011 to 2015 and a research director from 1998 to 2010. Myers was a legislative aide in the Office of California State Assemblymember Don Perata from 1997 to 1998. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Myers is a Democrat.
