Published:

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will speak at a California Air Resources Board workshop today, where the board is updating the state’s AB 32 Scoping Plan to reflect the Governor’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, as directed in the Executive Order issued earlier this year.

When: Today, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at approx. 11:30 a.m.
Where: California Secretary of State Building, Auditorium, 1500 11th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814

**NOTE: The public meeting is open to credentialed media.

The California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32) created a comprehensive, multi-year program to reduce emissions in California and requires the Air Resources Board to update and approve a scoping plan detailing the state’s approach to reducing emissions.

On April 29, 2015, the Governor issued Executive Order B-30-15 establishing a mid-term greenhouse gas emission reduction target for California of 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030. All state agencies with jurisdiction over sources of emissions were directed to implement measures to achieve reductions of emissions to meet this target. The board was also directed to update the AB 32 Scoping Plan to reflect the 2030 target, and today’s workshop is part of that process.

Additional information on today’s meeting can be found here. The workshop will be webcast here.
