SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
James Sullivan, 46, of Barstow, has been appointed administrator at the Veterans Home of California, Barstow, where he has served as skilled nursing facility administrator since 2015. Sullivan was administrator at the Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center from 2008 to 2014 and held several positions at Trinity Mission Wide Horizons Residential Care Facility from 1994 to 2005, including program director, qualified mental retardation professional and therapeutic recreation technician. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $122,388. Sullivan is registered without party preference.
Lawrence Imperial, 45, of Fresno, has been appointed skilled nursing facility administrator at the Veterans Home of California, Fresno, where he has been skilled nursing facility consultant since 2015. Imperial was social services director and admissions coordinator at Avalon Health Care, Madera from 2014 to 2015, office manager and licensed nursing home administrator at Freedom Taxes and Legal Document Services from 2011 to 2013 and licensed nursing home administrator at Horizon West Healthcare-Westgate Gardens from 2008 to 2011. Imperial was licensed nursing home administrator at Golden Ventures Healthcare-Golden Living Center, Hillcrest from 2006 to 2008, at Avalon Health Care, Chowchilla from 2003 to 2006 and at Beverly Enterprises from 2001 to 2003. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $105,000. Imperial is registered without party preference.
David Rechs, 47, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy secretary for human resources at the California Government Operations Agency, where he has served as assistant secretary of innovation and accountability since 2013. He was government reorganization consultant in the Office of the Governor from 2012 to 2013 and a staff services manager at the California Department of Human Resources from 2011 to 2012 and at the California Department of Transportation from 2010 to 2011. Rechs was a personal program advisor at the California Department of Personnel Administration from 2003 to 2010. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $120,000. Rechs is a Democrat.
Lindy Rose Harrington, 36, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director of health care financing at the California Department of Health Care Services, where she has served as deputy director of administration since 2013, was acting chief and acting assistant chief for fiscal forecasting in 2013 and chief of the financial management branch from 2007 to 2013. Harrington was acting budget officer at the California Department of Public Health in 2007 and a staff services manager in the Budget Office of the California Department of Health Services from 2006 to 2007, where she served in several positions from 2000 to 2006, including staff service analyst and associate governmental program analyst. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $136,308. Harrington is a Democrat.
Adam Weintraub, 52, of Sacramento, has been appointed assistant deputy director at the California Department of Health Care Services, Office of Public Affairs, where he has served as an information officer since 2014. He was a freelance journalist from 2008 to 2014, a statehouse reporter for the Associated Press in 2011 and managing editor at the Sacramento Business Journal from 2002 to 2008. Weintraub was managing editor and a reporter at the Minneapolis -St. Paul Business Journal from 1998 to 2002 and a reporter at Gannett Newspapers from 1988 to 1997. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $86,952. Weintraub is registered without party preference.
Jim Wunderman, 58, of Pleasant Hill, has been appointed to the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority Board of Directors. Wunderman has been president and CEO at the Bay Area Council since 2004. He was senior vice president of external affairs at the Providian Financial Corporation from 1997 to 2004, chief of staff in the San Francisco Mayor’s Office from 1993 to 1995 and vice president and general manager at Norcal Waste Systems Inc. from 1987 to 1991. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Wunderman is a Democrat.
