SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Jeff Burdick, 65, of Coarsegold, has been appointed to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Burdick has been a professor of English at the State Center Community College District, Clovis Community College Center since 2001. He earned a Master of Arts degree in English from California State University, Long Beach. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Burdick is registered without party preference.
Steven Stepanek, 64, of Canoga Park, has been reappointed to the California State University Board of Trustees, where he has served since 2013. Stepanek has been a professor of computer science at California State University, Northridge since 1981, where he has served in several positions since 1972, including chair of the Computer Science Department, academic consultant, operating systems analyst and lecturer. Stepanek was California State University, Northridge faculty president and Faculty Senate chair from 2010 to 2014 and a member of the California State University Academic Senate from 2005 to 2013. He earned a Master of Science degree in computer science from California State University, Northridge. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Stepanek is a Democrat.
Maggie White, 20, of Modesto, has been appointed to the California State University Board of Trustees. White has been a student at California State University, Stanislaus and programming assistant at the Housing and Residential Life Office since 2014. She is secretary of the National Communication Association’s Lambda Pi Eta honor society at California State University, Stanislaus and a member of the university’s Associated Students Incorporated Student Government Leadership Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. White is registered without party preference.
David Wilson, 48, of Ventura, has been appointed to the California State 9-1-1 Advisory Board. Wilson has been assistant police chief at the Ventura Police Department since 2012, where he has served in several positions since 1984, including commander, lieutenant, sergeant and officer. He is a member of the California Police Chiefs Association, National Emergency Number Association, California Peace Officers Association and the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wilson is a Democrat.
