SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Christopher Cruz, 50, of El Dorado Hills, has been appointed chief deputy director of operations at the California Department of Technology. Cruz has been chief information officer at the California Department of Health Care Services since 2011. He was chief information officer at the California Department of Food and Agriculture from 2007 to 2010, information technology manager at the California Department of Health Services from 2004 to 2007, business development and project manager at Network Design Associates from 2003 to 2004, director of information technology consulting at Eskel Porter Consulting from 2001 to 2003 and senior project manager at Lockheed Martin-Carta from 2000 to 2001. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $150,408. Cruz is a Democrat.
Stephen Shewmaker, 65, of San Diego, has been reappointed to the 22nd District Agricultural Association, San Diego County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Shewmaker has been president at Cubic Transportation Systems since 2006, where he was senior vice president of business development from 1982 to 2003. He was senior vice president at Thales Transportation Business from 2003 to 2006 and a marketing representative at Honeywell Training and Control Systems from 1972 to 1982. Shewmaker is a member of the American Public Transportation Association and the California Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is treasurer at the Don Diego Foundation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Shewmaker is a Democrat.
Andrew Meredith, 34, of Flournoy, has been reappointed to the 30th District Agricultural Association, Tehama District Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Meredith has been owner of the Meredith Spotted Sheep Ranch since 2011 and has been an assistant business manager at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 340 since 2009. He was mayor of the City of Galt from 2008 to 2010, where he served as vice mayor from 2007 to 2008 and was a member of the city council from 2006 to 2007. Meredith is president of the Northeastern California Building and Construction Trades Council, an elected member of the Flournoy Union Elementary School District Board and a member of the Jacob Sheep Breeders Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Meredith is a Democrat.
