SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Anthea Hartig, 51, of San Mateo, has been appointed to the California State Park and Recreation Commission. Hartig has been executive director at the California Historical Society since 2011. She was regional director at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Western Office from 2005 to 2011 and an assistant professor at La Sierra University from 2000 to 2005. Hartig was chair of the California State Historic Resources Commission from 2001 to 2005. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in history and a Master of Arts degree in historic resources management from the University of California, Riverside. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Hartig is a Democrat.
Rue Mapp, 43, of Oakland, has been appointed to the California State Park and Recreation Commission. Mapp is founder and chief executive officer at Outdoor Afro, where she has worked since 2009. She was a youth investment program officer at the Pacific Forest and Watershed Lands Stewardship Council from 2010 to 2012 and a communications manager at Women Organized to Respond to Life-Threatening Diseases from 2009 to 2010. Mapp was founder and general manager at It’s Your Move Games and Hobbies from 2003 to 2005 and held multiple positions at MSCI Barra from 1998 to 2006, including office administrator and data distribution analyst. She was an office administrator at Total Information Management from 1997 to 1998. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Mapp is a Democrat.
Lillian Wang, 45, of Moraga, has been appointed to the California State Optometry Board. Wang has been an optometrist at the Lafayette Optometric Group since 2004 and an assistant clinical professor at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry since 2000. She was an assistant clinical professor at the State University of New York School of Optometry from 1998 to 2000. Wang is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, California Optometric Association and the New England College of Optometry Alumni Association. She earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Wang is a Republican.
Jian Ou-Yang, 36, of Stockton, has been appointed to the California Board of Accountancy. Ou-Yang has been a partner at Brown Armstrong since 2013, where he has held several positions since 2002, including shareholder-in-training, audit manager, senior accountant and staff accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Ou-Yang is a Republican.
Raj Patel, 53, of Arcadia, has been appointed to the California Building Standards Commission. Patel has been assistant director of community development and city building official for the City of Beverly Hills since 2014. He served in several positions for Los Angeles County from 1985 to 2014, including assistant deputy director at the consolidated sewer management district, superintendent of building, assistant superintendent of building and chief mechanical and plumbing engineer. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Patel is a Democrat.
