Governor Brown Appoints Two to San Diego County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Marian F. Gaston and Lisa R. Rodriguez to judgeships in the San Diego County Superior Court.

Gaston, 44, of San Diego, has served as a deputy public defender at the San Diego County Office of the Primary Public Defender since 1996. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Allan J. Preckel. Gaston is a Democrat.

Rodriguez, 46, of La Mesa, has served as a deputy district attorney at the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office since 1998. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law since 2014 and served as a deputy city attorney at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office from 1996 to 1998. Rodriguez earned a Master of Laws degree from the Chapman University Fowler School of Law, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Susan D. Huguenor. Rodriguez is a Republican.

The compensation for each of these positions is $184, 610.
