SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Tom Dyer, 41, of Sacramento, has been appointed chief deputy legislative affairs secretary in the Office of the Governor. Dyer has served as legislative director at the California Department of Finance since 2012. He was legislative director at the California Department of Personnel Administration from 2010 to 2012. Dyer served as staff counsel at the California Department of Social Services in 2009, labor relations counsel at the California Department of Personnel Administration from 2006 to 2008 and enforcement counsel at the California Fair Political Practices Commission in 2006. He served as deputy district attorney at the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office from 2003 to 2005. Dyer earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $140,064. Dyer is a Democrat.
Anthony A. Batarse, Jr., 81, of Oakland, has been reappointed to the California New Motor Vehicle Board, where he has served since 2013. Batarse has been chief executive officer and president at Lloyd A. Wise Companies since 1972. He is a member of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Batarse is an American Independent.
Victoria Rusnak, 46, of Pasadena, has been reappointed to the California New Motor Vehicle Board, where she has served since 2009. Rusnak has held several positions at the Rusnak Auto Group since 2006, including chief executive officer, president, chief operating officer and general counsel. She was an attorney in private practice from 1996 to 2006 and was executive director of Washington Ceasefire from 1994 to 1995. She is a member of the California New Car Dealers Association and the National Automobile Dealers Association. Rusnak earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Gonzaga University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Rusnak is a Democrat.
Glenn Stevens, 62, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the California New Motor Vehicle Board, where he has served since 2000. Stevens has been vice president at Nelson Shelton and Associates since 1995 and an attorney at the Law Offices of Glenn E. Stevens since 1988. He served as an attorney at the Los Angeles Alternate Public Defender’s Office from 1986 to 1988 and as a deputy district attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office from 1979 to 1986. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Stevens is a Democrat.
