Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Zeny Agullana, 43, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the State Bar of California Examining Committee. Agullana has been vice president at the JPMorgan Chase Office of Nonprofit Engagement since 2013. She was executive director at the ScholarShare Investment Board from 2007 to 2013, executive director of Project California from 2005 to 2008, special assistant to the chief deputy attorney general at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General from 1999 to 2007 and legislative consultant in the Office of California State Senator Bill Lockyer from 1991 to 1999. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Agullana is a Democrat.

Lee Haydu, 66, of Del Mar, has been appointed to the 22nd District Agricultural Association, San Diego County Fair Board of Directors. Haydu served as mayor of the City of Del Mar from 2013 to 2014 and was an administrator at Paul J Haydu, M.D., a Medical Corporation from 1986 to 2014. She was deputy mayor for the City of Del Mar from 2012 to 2013, where she served as a member of the city council from 2010 to 2012. Haydu was a sales representative at LXR Medical Supplies from 1985 to 1987, at Konica Medical Corporation from 1983 to 1985 and at Cambridge Medical Instruments from 1980 to 1982. She was a senior staff technologist at Saint Vincent Hospital from 1970 to 1980. Haydu is a member of Run Women Run and the Del Mar Garden Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Haydu is a Democrat.

Pierre Sleiman, 28, of San Diego, has been appointed to the 22nd District Agricultural Association, San Diego County Fair Board of Directors. Sleiman has been founder and chief executive officer at Go Green Agriculture Inc. since 2009. He is a member of the San Diego County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Sleiman earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, San Diego Rady School of Management. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Sleiman is registered without party preference.

Vanessa Robledo, 37, of Napa, has been reappointed to the 25th District Agricultural Association, Napa Town and Country Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2013. Robledo has been owner and chief executive officer at Black Coyote Wines since 2008. She was president at Robledo Family Winery from 1997 to 2007. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Robledo is a Democrat.

Devonna Smith, 50, of Napa, has been appointed to the 25th District Agricultural Association, Napa Town and Country Fair Board of Directors. Smith has been chief financial officer and chief of staff at Chappellet Winery since 2013. She was chief financial officer at Long Meadow Ranch from 2008 to 2013, an owner at Meritage Properties and Meritage Builders from 2002 to 2008 and chief financial officer at Demptos Napa Cooperage from 1998 to 2002. She is a swine leader at the Las Amigas 4-H Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Smith is a Republican.

Thomas Trzesniewski, 65, of Napa, has been reappointed to the 25th District Agricultural Association, Napa Town and Country Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013. Trzesniewski has been a general manager at the Bremer Family Winery since 2011. He was a retail manager for Chimney Rock Winery from 2006 to 2010. Trzesniewski is a member of the Friends of the Napa River and the City of Napa Planning Commission. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Trzesniewski is registered without party preference.

Polly Ann Seaver-Codorniz, 55, of Colusa, has been appointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Seaver-Codorniz has been co-owner at Changes Salon since 2013. She was co-owner at Shear Class from 1986 to 2013. Seaver-Codorniz is a member of the California Cosmetology Association. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Seaver-Codorniz is a Democrat.

Jesse Choper, 79, of Orinda, has been reappointed to the California Horse Racing Board, where he has served since 2006. Choper has been the Earl Warren professor of public law at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law since 1991, where he was dean from 1982 to 1992 and a professor from 1965 to 1982. He was an associate professor of law at the University of Minnesota Law School from 1961 to 1965 and was a law clerk for the Honorable Earl Warren at the U.S. Supreme Court from 1960 to 1961. Choper is a member and former vice president of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the American Law Institute and the Order of the Coif, where he was national president from 1992 to 1995. Choper was the University of California, Berkeley faculty athletic representative to the Pac-10 and the National Collegiate Athletic Association from 2004 to 2010. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Choper is registered without party preference.
