SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Linda Broyles, 59, of Coronado, has been reappointed to the California Commission on Emergency Medical Services, where she has served since 2013. Broyles has been clinical coordinator at American Medical Response since 2007 and continuous quality improvement coordinator at the Regional Cooperative Care Partnership Joint Powers Agreement since 2006. She was base hospital nurse coordinator at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla from 2005 to 2007 and held several positions at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista from 1989 to 2005, including base hospital nurse coordinator. Broyles has been a certified emergency nurse since 1990 and a registered nurse since 1977. She is a member of the California Emergency Nurses Association. Broyles earned a Master of Science degree in nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Broyles is a Republican.
Mark Hartwig, 51, of Rancho Cucamonga, has been reappointed to the California Commission on Emergency Medical Services, where he has served since 2012. Hartwig has been fire chief at the San Bernardino County Fire Department since 2011. He served as deputy fire chief at the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District from 2007 to 2011, where he was battalion chief from 2005 to 2007. Hartwig served in several positions at the San Bernardino County Fire Department from 1992 to 2005, including fire captain, apparatus engineer and training and safety officer. He is chair of the California Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association and legislative director at the California Fire Chiefs Association, where he serves as president of the Emergency Medical Services Section. Hartwig earned a Master of Science degree in emergency medical services from California State University, Long Beach. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hartwig is a Republican.
Dave Teter, 48, of Cameron Park, has been reappointed to the California Commission on Emergency Medical Services, where he has served since 2010. Teter has been deputy director of fire protection at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection since 2015, where he has served in several positions since 1998, including battalion chief, fire captain and paramedic in the Amador El Dorado Unit, battalion chief and paramedic in the San Diego Unit, firefighter paramedic and fire apparatus engineer paramedic in the San Bernardino Unit, deputy chief of statewide safety and safety officer. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Teter is a Democrat.
Richard Lopes, 49, of Rancho Murieta, has been reappointed member and chair at the California Gambling Control Commission, where he has served since 2013. Lopes served in several positions at the California Department of Justice from 1996 to 2012, including assistant director in the Division of Law Enforcement, chief and assistant chief of the Mission Support Branch and chief of the California Bureau of Investigation. Lopes served as a detective and patrolman at the Laguna Beach Police Department from 1989 to 1996 and was deputy sheriff at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department from 1986 to 1989. He earned a Master of Arts degree in organizational leadership from Chapman University. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $138,867. Lopes is registered without party preference.
Nancy Clyde, 65, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities, where she has served since 2013. Clyde has been a facilitator at Disability Rights California, ADA Resource Associates and other disability rights organizations since 1994. She was an independent living specialist at Placer Independent Resource Services from 1998 to 2001 and director of underwriting at Jordan Jones Administrators from 1986 to 1993 and at Capital Benefits Group in 1993. She held several positions at American General Group Insurance Company from 1981 to 1986, including senior trust underwriter and trust underwriter. Clyde was a customer service representative at American Hardware Mutual Insurance Company in 1981 and held several positions at the Pacific Union Assurance Company from 1979 to 1981, including assistant manager of operations and health underwriter. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Clyde is a Democrat.
Rebecca Donabed, 34, of Tulare, has been reappointed to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities, where she has served since 2012. Donabed has been a greeter lead at Visalia Adult Integrated Services since 2014. She was a volunteer at Resources for Independence, Central Valley from 2010 to 2011 and for the State of California National Core Indicators in 2010. Donabed was a life quality assessment volunteer for the California Life Quality Assessment Project from 2006 to 2009 and was a volunteer office clerk at the Tulare Salvation Army from 2004 to 2005 and at the Centers for Independent Living in 2003. She graduated from the Partners in Policymaking California program in 2008 and is a member of the Visalia Disability Advocacy Team and the Statewide Self-Advocacy Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Donabed is a Republican.
Max Duley, 47, of Fairfield, has been reappointed to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities, where he has served since 2013. Duley has been auction and outreach director at The V Foundation for Cancer Research since 2009. He was executive chef and chief executive officer at A Flash In The Pan LLC from 2008 to 2010 and vice president of operations and general manager at Trinitas Cellars from 2007 to 2008. Duley was director of hospitality and executive chef at Peju Province Winery from 2002 to 2007, corporate executive chef and director of food and beverage at Sassy Restaurant Group LLC from 2001 to 2002 and education operations manager at the Culinary Institute of America from 1996 to 2001. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Duley is a Democrat.
Janelle Lewis, 56, of Granite Bay, has been reappointed to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities, where she has served since 2012. Lewis has been an educational consultant at the Answer Key since 2007. She was a project development specialist at the University of California, Davis MIND Institute’s Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities from 2008 to 2010 and a teacher at the Placer County Office of Education Independent Home Study Program from 2002 to 2008. Lewis served as director and teacher for the Palo Alto Unified School District English Language Transition Program from 1993 to 1995 and was a teacher for the Santa Maria-Bonita School District from 1986 to 1992. Lewis is a member of the Families for Early Autism Treatment Board of Directors and served on the California State Senate Select Committee on Autism and Related Disorders Early Identification and Treatment Task Force from 2009 to 2010 and on the California Legislative Blue Ribbon Commission on Autism Task Force on Education and Professional Development from 2006 to 2007. She earned a Master of Education degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Lewis is registered without party preference.
Ning Yang, 27, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities, where she has served since 2013. Yang was a student representative at the California Community College Board of Governors from 2011 to 2013 and served as a senator and general assembly planning committee chair for the Student Senate for California Community Colleges from 2010 to 2011. She served as a housing programs representative at the Community Development Commission of Mendocino County in 2010 and was student body president at Mendocino College from 2008 to 2009. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Yang is a Democrat.
