Governor Brown Appoints Two to Orange County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Jeannie M. Joseph and John R. Zitny to judgeships in the Orange County Superior Court.

Joseph, 45, of Newport Beach, has served as deputy chief of the Santa Ana Branch Office at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California since 2002. She was an associate at Morrison and Foerster LLP from 2000 to 2002, at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP from 1998 to 2000 and at Daniels, Baratta and Fine from 1994 to 1998. Joseph earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on October 25, 2013. Joseph is registered without party preference

Zitny, 60, of Yorba Linda, has served as chief deputy at the San Bernardino County Public Defender’s Office since 2006. He served as a deputy public defender at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office from 1988 to 2006 and was an attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Orange County from 1985 to 1988. Zitny earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Western State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Fullerton. He fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on August 12, 2013. Zitny is a Democrat.

The compensation for each of these positions is $184, 610.
