Governor Brown Issues Statement on Death of Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the death of Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Eugene Kostiuchenko:

“Anne and I extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Kostiuchenko as they mourn this tragic loss,” said Governor Brown. “We will not forget Deputy Kostiuchenko’s service to the people of this state.”

Deputy Kostiuchenko, 41, of Camarillo, died today when he was struck by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop in Camarillo.

Deputy Kostiuchenko was an 11-year veteran of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

In honor of Deputy Kostiuchenko, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
