SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Thomas Mack, 78, of Manhattan Beach, has been reappointed chair of the Carcinogen Identification Committee, where he has served since 1993. Mack has been professor of preventive medicine at the University of Southern California since 1974. He was assistant professor of epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health from 1969 to 1974 and an epidemiologist at the U.S. Public Health Service Communicable Disease Center from 1964 to 1969. Mack earned a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Mack is a Democrat.
Joseph R. Landolph, 65, of Altadena, has been reappointed to the Carcinogen Identification Committee, where he has served since 1993. Landolph has been a member of the University of Southern California Free Radical Institute since 2013 and associate professor of pathology, molecular microbiology and immunology at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine since 1987, where he has been a member of the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1982. Landolph was a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps from 1976 to 1977. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the Forensic Expert Witness Association National Board of Directors, Society of Toxicology, American Association for Cancer Research and the American Society for Cell Biology. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Landolph is a Democrat.
Ellen Gold, 65, of Berkeley, has been reappointed chair of the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee, where she has served since 2005. Gold has been faculty at the University of California, Davis since 1988, where she has served in several positions including chair of the School of Medicine Department of Public Health Sciences. She was senior scientist at the Health Officers Association of California from 1986 to 1988 and faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health from 1977 to 1986. Gold is a member of the Society for Epidemiologic Research, American College of Epidemiology, American Public Health Association, American Association for the Advancement of Science and the International Society of Environmental Epidemiology. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gold is a Democrat.
Laurence Baskin, 55, of San Francisco, has been reappointed to the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee, where he has served since 2012. Baskin has served in several positions at the University of California, San Francisco since 1993, including division chief of pediatric urology, professor of urology and pediatrics, associate professor and assistant professor. He was a fellow in pediatric urology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia from 1991 to 1993 and a resident in urology at the University of California, San Francisco from 1988 to 1991. Baskin is a member of the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, Society for Fetal Urology, American Association of Pediatric Urologists, Asia-Pacific Association of Pediatric Urologists, the American Urological Association and a member and past president at the Society for Pediatric Urology. He is a fellow at the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Baskin is a member of the Journal of Urology Editorial Board and the UpToDate Editorial Board and National Institutes of Health scientific review committees. Baskin earned a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Baskin is a Democrat.
Tracey Woodruff, 51, of Piedmont, has been reappointed to the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee, where she has served since 2012. Woodruff has been a professor at the University of California, San Francisco Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and at the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and director of the University’s Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment since 2007. She was a scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1994 to 2007. Woodruff is a member of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, the Society of Toxicology and the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology. She earned a Master of Public Health degree in environmental health and a joint Doctor of Philosophy degree in bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, San Francisco.
