IRVINE – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will join Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (D-Fullerton), California Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Peter J. Gravett, local veterans and community leaders tomorrow for a news conference in Irvine at the designated future site of Orange County’s first State Veterans Cemetery.

Last month, Governor Brown signed AB 1453 by Assemblymember Quirk-Silva directing the California Department of Veterans Affairs to develop and construct a Southern California Veterans Cemetery in the City of Irvine.

“This bill will give veterans in Orange County the final resting place they deserve and would not have been possible without the skill and tireless work of Assemblymember Quirk-Silva,” said Governor Brown.

The legislation was part of a package of bills signed by the Governor to support California’s veterans and active duty military personnel and their families.
