Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Robert J. Fisher, 59, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the Strategic Growth Council, where he has served since 2009. Fisher has been managing director of Pisces Inc. since 2013 and owner of Mendocino Redwood Company since 1998. He held several positions at Gap Inc. from 1980 to 1999, including chairman, interim chief executive officer, president of Gap Brand, chief operating officer, chief financial officer, executive vice president and president of Banana Republic. Fisher is president of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Board of Trustees, a member of the Conservation International Board of Directors and an honorary member of the Natural Resources Defense Council Board of Trustees. He earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Fisher is a Democrat.

Megan E. McGuinness, 42, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Film Commission, where she has served since 2012. McGuinness was executive producer for Stiletto Television in 2013, executive producer on projects for Entertainment One Television from 2011 to 2013, co-executive producer for World of Wonder Productions from 2008 to 2011 and supervising producer for Evolution Media in 2008. She was producer for Duly Noted Films in 2007, senior story producer and story producer for Actual Reality Pictures from 2004 to 2006, story producer for Evolution Media from 2002 to 2004 and membership coordinator for the International Documentary Association in 2002. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. McGuinness is registered without party preference.

Cheryl Weibling, 37, of Red Bluff, has been appointed to the 30th District Agricultural Association, Tehama District Fair Board of Directors. Weibling has been director of sales at Comfort Inn since 2011. She held several positions at Travelodge from 2000 to 2011, including manager and night auditor. Weibling is a member of the Tehama County Employer Advisory Council, Toastmasters International, Rotary International and Kiwanis International. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Weibling is a Republican.

Greg Waterman, 56, of Wilton has been appointed to the 52nd District Agricultural Association, Sacramento County Fair Board of Directors. Waterman served as a volunteer captain at the Wilton Fire Department from 2009 to 2014 and served in several positions at the Cosumnes Community Services District from 1975 to 2007 including firefighter, engineer and captain. Waterman is a member of the California Junior Livestock Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Waterman is registered without party preference.
