SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Jason Lopez, 43, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director, fiscal services at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where he has served as acting deputy director, fiscal services since 2014 and was associate director of the budget management branch from 2011 to 2014. Lopez was deputy director, fiscal and operations at the Yolo County Health Department in 2011 and held several positions at the California Rural Indian Health Board from 2001 to 2011, including chief financial officer, director of financial administration and assistant director of financial administration. Lopez was an auditor-appraiser at the Yolo County Assessor’s Office from 1996 to 2001 and held several positions at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1995 to 1996, including seasonal clerk and student assistant. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $133,020. Lopez is a Democrat.
Kristin Stauffacher, 43, of Sacramento, has been appointed an appointments advisor in the office of Governor Brown. She has served as deputy secretary for legislation at the California Environmental Protection Agency since 2011. Stauffacher was legislative director in the office of California State Senator Joe Simitian from 2008 to 2011 and legislative director in the office of California State Senator Michael Machado from 2000 until 2008. She was a consultant to the California State Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife from 1997 to 2000 and a scientific aid at the California Department of Fish and Game from 1996 to 1997. Stauffacher was a water resources assistant for the County of Lake in 1996. She earned a Master of Science degree and a Master of Public Administration degree from Indiana University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $123,204. Stauffacher is a Democrat.
James Anderson, 21, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the State Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. He has been program administrator at the Anti-Recidivism Coalition since 2013 and was executive assistant at the Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative from 2008 to 2013. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Anderson is a Democrat.
Gideon Kracov, 43, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the State Mining and Geology Board. Kracov has been an attorney in private practice since 2004. He was deputy city attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office from 2002 to 2004 and an associate lawyer at Rose Klein and Marias LLP from 1997 to 2002. Kracov was an associate at Weston Benshoof LLP from 1995 to 1997. He is incoming chair of the California State Bar, Environmental Law Executive Committee. Kracov earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Kracov is a Democrat.
Lauren Rauch, 48, of Castaic, has been appointed to the California Sex Offender Management Board. Rauch has been sex offender program coordinator at the Los Angeles Police Department since 2014, where he has held several positions since 1989, including assistant coordinator for sex offender registration and enforcement units, inspector for consent decree, sex crime investigator, detective and field officer. Rauch is a member of the Institute of Criminal Investigation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Rauch is a Republican.
