Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

William Barton, 70, of Aptos, has been appointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors. Barton held several positions at Granite Construction Inc. from 1980 to 2008, including chief compliance officer, chief financial officer and senior vice president. He was a controller at Spectra-Flux Inc. from 1974 to 1980 and a price estimating and budget coordinator at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company from 1967 to 1974. Barton is a member of the Rotary Club of Freedom, Financial Executives International and the National Association of Corporate Directors. Barton earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Barton is a Republican.

Anthony Campos, 70, of Watsonville, has been appointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors. Campos has been an owner of Coldwell Banker Campos Real Estate since 1977. He was a member of the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors from 1999 to 2011 and the Watsonville City Council from 1987 to 1999. Campos was chair of the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District Board of Directors, the Zone 7 Pajaro Valley Storm Drain District Board of Directors and the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments from 1999 to 2011. He was chair of the Santa Cruz Local Agency Formation Commission and the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission from 2002 to 2011. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Campos is a Democrat.

David Torres, 52, of Bakersfield, has been appointed to the 15th District Agricultural Association, Kern County Fair Board of Directors. Torres has been a criminal defense attorney in private practice since 1988. He served in several positions in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1999 to 2013 including chief legal assistance officer, deputy commander of the 78th Legal Service Organization, unit leader of the 78th Legal Service Organization, deputy commander of the 78th Legal Detachment Organization and retired holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Torres served in several positions in the California National Guard Army Infantry from 1985 to 1993, including rifle platoon leader and infantry executive officer. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1979 to 1983 with the 4th Light Anti-Aircraft Missile (LAAM) Battalion as a non-commissioned officer and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Torres is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the California Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Gonzaga University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Torres is a Democrat.
