SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Linda Clifford, 61, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California Contractors State License Board, where she has served since 2013. Clifford has been chief financial officer at C. C. Myers Inc. since 1986. She held multiple accounting positions at Continental Heller-Tecon Pacific from 1972 to 1986. Clifford is treasurer of the California Transportation Foundation and a member of the foundation’s Board of Directors. Clifford is a commissioner and vice-chair at the California Uniform Construction Cost Accounting Commission. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Clifford is a Republican.
Pastor Herrera Jr., 68, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the California Contractors State License Board, where he has served since 2010. Herrera has been adjunct professor at the California State University, Northridge Department of Family and Consumer Sciences since 2011. He served in multiple positions at the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs from 1977 to 2010, including director, assistant director, head of staff services, head consumer affairs representative and consumer affairs investigator. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Herrera is a Democrat.
Eddie Lang Jr., 72, of Rancho Cordova, has been reappointed to the California Contractors State License Board, where he has served since 2007. Lang served in various positions at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1980 to 2003, including supervisor of the Corporation Collections unit, the Personal Income Tax unit and the Real Estate Assessment unit. He was an adult education instructor for the Folsom Cordova Unified School District from 1976 to 1982 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1980. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Lang is a Democrat.
Kathy Jones Irish, 60, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, where she has served since 2012. Jones Irish has been vice president at Arnie Berghoff and Associates since 2011. She was vice president of marketing and business development at KHAFRA Engineering Consultants Inc. from 2010 to 2011 and served as assistant general manager at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power from 2008 to 2010 and interim general manager at the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs in 2008. Jones Irish was director of government relations at MWH Americas Inc. from 2006 to 2008 and chief of staff for Los Angeles City Council member Tom LaBonge from 2001 to 2005. She was executive assistant to the general manager at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power from 1998 to 2001 and manager of public affairs at the Water Replenishment District of Southern California from 1996 to 1998. Jones Irish was public affairs manager at Warner Bros. Studios from 1994 to 1996, manager of community relations at the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission from 1991 to 1994 and transportation planner at the Southern California Association of Governments from 1988 to 1991. This position does not require Senate confirmation and compensation is $100 per diem. Jones Irish is a Democrat.
Mohammad Qureshi, 48, of Redlands, has been reappointed to the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, where he has served since 2014. Qureshi has been chief of traffic at the San Bernardino County Department of Public Works since 2012. He was regional director and senior project manager at LIN Consulting from 2007 to 2012, director of the Jackson State University Institute for Multimodal Transportation from 2006 to 2007 and assistant professor and director at the University of Missouri-Rolla’s Missouri Local Transportation Resource Center from 2000 to 2006. Qureshi was a research specialist at the University of Tennessee Center for Transportation Research from 1998 to 2000 and senior associate at the Resource Systems Group Inc. from 1995 to 1997. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Qureshi is a Democrat.
