SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Sandra Cervantes, 53, of Irvine, has been appointed to the 32nd District Agricultural Association, Orange County Fair Board of Directors. Cervantes has owned Miniondas Newspaper since 2013 and Cervantes Real Estate since 2012. She was vice president of the Century 21 Professionals REO Division from 1993 to 2011 and administrative director at the Women’s Choice Clinic from 1983 to 1993. She is managing director of the Sandra Y. Cervantes Scholarship Fund at the Hispanic Educational Endowment Fund of Orange County and a member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals Advisory Board and the Heritage Museum of Orange County Board of Directors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cervantes is a Democrat.
Bao Nguyen, 33, of Garden Grove, has been appointed to the 32nd District Agricultural Association, Orange County Fair Board of Directors. Nguyen has been an organizer for the United Domestic Workers of America Local 3930 since 2010. He was a community organizer for the Orange County Congregation Community Organization from 2009 to 2010. Nguyen is a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange County, Commission on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs and the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education. He earned a Masters of Arts degree in Indo-Tibetan Buddhist studies from Naropa University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Nguyen is a Democrat.
Robert Ruiz, 45, of Irvine, has been appointed the 32nd District Agricultural Association, Orange County Fair Board of Directors. Ruiz has been secretary-treasurer at Laborers Local 652 since 2003, where he was a field agent from 2002 to 2003. He was a foreman at Peter C. David from 2000 to 2002, crew leader at Pan Pacific Plumbing from 1999 to 2000 and a contractor for Steve P. Rados from 1995 to 1999. Ruiz was a warehouse administrator at TVT Electronics from 1988 to 1995. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Ruiz is a Democrat.
Robert Forshay, 66, of Palmdale, has been appointed to the 50th District Agricultural Association, Antelope Valley Fair Board of Directors. Forshay was a realtor at Burnett Realty from 2001 to 2005. He was vice chair at MVP Projection Services from 1993 to 1995 and an assistant at World Stage from 1988 to 1993. Forshay is vice chair of the Antelope Valley Human Relations Commission, director of the Sunrise HIV-AIDS Coalition and chair of the Antelope Valley International Heritage Festival. He is a member of the United Way Antelope Valley Board of Directors and the Antelope Valley Interfaith Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Felipe Reina, 28, of Palmdale, has been reappointed to the 50th District Agricultural Association, Antelope Valley Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013. Reina has been a sales manager at Palmdale Dillard’s Department Stores since 2014. He was a management and program analyst at the Federal Aviation Administration from 2012 to 2013, central vault finance lead at NBC Universal Comcast from 2004 to 2012 and a remote pilot operator at Raytheon from 2008 to 2011 and at the Washington Consulting Group from 2007 to 2008. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Reina is a Democrat.
Darrell Eddins Sr., 60, of Ridgecrest has been appointed to the 53rd District Agricultural Association, Desert Empire Fair Board of Directors. Eddins has been a sales associate at the Swap Sheet since 2013 and an assistant football coach at Sierra Sands Unified School District since 2005. He was a service technician at Searles Valley Mineral from 2000 to 2012, a boilermaker at Foster Wheeler from 1990 to 2000 and a private contractor from 1985 to 1990. Eddins is an ambassador at the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Eddins is a Democrat.
