SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Katherine Zalewski, 51, of Richmond, has been appointed to the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Zalewski has served as chief counsel at the California Department of Industrial Relations since 2012, where she was a workers compensation administrative law judge and advisor to the Division of Workers’ Compensation from 2009 to 2011. She was senior associate at Schmit Law Office from 2000 to 2009 and manager and attorney at Pacific Coast Services from 1998 to 2000 and at Express Network and Direct Legal Support Services from 1993 to 1998. She was an attorney at Kinder and Wuerfel from 1990 to 1993 at Finnegan and Marks from 1988 to 1990 and at Foreman and Brasso from 1986 to 1988. Zalewski earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $131,952. Zalewski is a registered without party preference.
Brian Cain, 70, of Cedarville, has been appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2006. Cain was a communication electrician at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power from 1972 to 1998 and an avionics technician at Bendix-King from 1970 to 1972 and at Bay Air from 1968 to 1970. He is a member of the Klamath Solar Association Board and a radio technician at the Cedarville Township Volunteer Fire Department. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cain is a Republican.
Seabern McDonald, 71, of Alturas, has been appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2002. McDonald was owner at C too C Inc. from 1985 to 2010, a classroom aide at the Modoc County Office of Education from 1980 to 1985 and a car salesman at Terrines Ford from 1978 to 1980. McDonald is a member of the Alturas Elks Lodge, the Modoc County Sheriff’s Posse, the Alturas Future Farmers of America, the Modoc County Farm Bureau, the California Cattlemen’s Association and the Rotary Club of Alturas, where he served as president from 1991 to 1992. He was a member of the Modoc Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2006. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. McDonald is a Republican.
Diana Milton, 68, of Lake City, has been appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2002. Milton served as a contact representative at the Bureau of Land Management’s Surprise Field Office from 2001 to 2007 and at the Alturas Field Office from 2000 to 2001. She was an information assistant at the U.S. Forest Service from 1998 to 1999, a clerk at Surprise Valley Napa Auto Parts from 1997 to 1998, an office manager at Vision Home Health Care from 1991 to 1997 and a human resource specialist at the Physician’s Community Hospital from 1986 to 1991. Milton is a member of the Surprise Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Modoc Super Bull Rodeo. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Milton is a Democrat.
Jeannie Primorac, 70, of Alturas, has been appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 1994. Primorac was a cook at the Modoc Medical Center from 2000 to 2012 and at Gil’s Burger Stop from 1994 to 2000. She was the owner of Country Flower from 1983 to 1993 and matron and dispatcher at the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office from 1978 to 1983. Primorac is a member of the Big Valley Historical Museum. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Primorac is a Republican.
Kenneth Roberts, 50, of Alturas, has been appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2006. Roberts has been owner at K and K Distributors Inc. since 1993. He was a delivery driver at Intermountain Distributing from 1989 to 1993 and store manager at North State Grocery from 1988 to 1989 and at Better Buy Markets from 1979 to 1988. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Roberts is a Republican.
Lilli Sommer, 65, of Fort Bidwell, has been appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors. Sommer was an academic instructor at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation High Desert State Prison from 2005 to 2011 and an office assistant at the California Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement from 1999 to 2005. She was an office worker at the Office Dr. Thomas S. Harper from 1998 to 1999, director of the Humboldt Literacy Project from 1985 to 1999 and an employment claims assistant at the California Employment Development Department from 1980 to 1985. She is treasurer of the Surprise Valley Grange Number 846 and the Fort Bidwell Volunteer Fire Department and a leader at the Surprise Valley 4-H Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Sommer is a Democrat.
