Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

M. Reginald Salvador, 40, of Folsom, has been appointed chief of legislative and external affairs at the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. Salvador has been a co-founder and the managing director of Diamante Partners LLC since 2007. He was program director at James Lee Witt Associates from 2004 to 2011 and a board advisor at the California Integrated Waste Management Board from 2003 to 2004. Salvador served in multiple positions in the Office of Governor Gray Davis from 1999 to 2003, including deputy cabinet secretary and special assistant to the cabinet secretary. He was a policy analyst in the Office of Lieutenant Governor Gray Davis from 1998 to 1999. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100,608. Salvador is a Democrat.

Coby Petersen, 50, of Wilton, has been appointed deputy secretary of Veterans Homes at the California Department of Veterans Affairs. Petersen is a retired U.S. Army Colonel. He was the senior army advisor to the U.S. Army Adjutant General of California from 2010 to 2014, chief of future operations in the 3rd U.S. Army, Kuwait from 2009 to 2010 and brigade and battalion commander of the U.S. Army 174th Infantry Brigade from 2006 to 2009. Petersen was the deputy fire support coordinator for the 3rd Marine Division, U.S. Pacific Command from 2003 to 2006 and served in multiple positions for the 1st Infantry Division, Germany of the U.S. Army from 2000 to 2003, including battalion executive officer and chief of plans officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as brigade personnel officer in the Theater Support Brigade from 1998 to 2000, battalion fire support officer in the 5-87th infantry battalion from 1996 to 1998, training officer in Fifth Army West from 1994 to 1996 and served in various other positions for the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1994. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $120,000. Petersen is registered without party preference.

Rhonda Craft, 54, of Elk Grove, has been appointed director of the California Office of Traffic Safety. Craft has been chief of the driver safety branch in the Licensing Operations Division at the California Department of Motor Vehicles since 2011, where she has served in multiple positions since 1982, including assistant division chief and program manager in the licensing policy section, driver safety manager, manager for special projects, principal driver safety officer, driver safety officer, program technician and key data operator. She is a member of the Safety Center Board of Directors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $117,444. Craft is a Democrat.

Brent Jamison, 39, of Roseville, has been appointed deputy director of the California Department of General Services Interagency Support Division. Jamison has served as chief of the California Department of General Services Office of Fleet and Asset Management since 2011. He was deputy secretary of policy and planning at the California State and Consumer Services Agency from 2009 to 2010 and assistant deputy director of legislation at the California Department of Consumer Affairs in 2009. Jamison served in multiple positions at the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research from 2004 to 2009, including deputy director of legislation, assistant deputy director and senior legislative analyst. He was a law clerk at the Law Offices of Dan Brace in 2003 and at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division from 2001 to 2002. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $114,000. Jamison is registered without party preference.
