SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Douglas Erber, 48, of Long Beach, has been appointed to the California Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention. Erber has been president of the Japan America Society of Southern California since 2003, where he has held multiple positions since 1993, including vice president, acting executive director and Orange County regional coordinator. Erber is chair of the Autism Partnership Foundation Board of Directors and the Harbor Regional Center Audit Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Erber is registered without party preference.
Fernando Gomez, 55, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention. Gomez has been a sales and marketing manager for Cedel Entertainment since 2012, vice president of marketing and distribution for Sol Caribe LLC since 2009 and an independent sales and marketing strategist for Mindwalk Ventures since 1997. He was vice president of interactive and emerging markets at Maya Entertainment from 2008 to 2009, director of new business and sales for Batanga.com from 2005 to 2008 and director of sales and marketing, southwest region for starMedia from 2004 to 2005. Gomez was sales and marketing manager, southwest region for Microsoft from 2001 to 2004, vice president of international affiliate relations for Prime Deportiva from 1995 to 1996 and director for affiliate relations, western region for the Inspiration Network from 1992 to 1995. Gomez is president of the Association of Regional Center Agencies, where he has been a member of the board of directors since 2009. He is a former president of the Westside Regional Center, where he has been a member of the board of directors since 2008 and was a member of Partners in Policymaking in 2007. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gomez is a Democrat.
John Hall, 39, of Irvine, has been appointed to the California Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention. Hall has been chief executive officer at Greenwood and Hall since 1998. He was director of sales and marketing for Goodman Communications West from 1994 to 1998. Hall earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University and a Doctor of Education degree in K-12 Leadership from the University of Southern California. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hall is registered without party preference.
Rex Hime, 66, of Loomis, has been reappointed to the State Fair Leasing Authority of the California Exposition and State Fair, where he has served since 2008. Hime has been president and chief executive officer at the California Business Properties Association since 1984. He was senior assistant to the minority caucus chairman of the California State Assembly from 1983 to 1984 and held multiple positions at the California Commission for Economic Development from 1979 to 1983, including executive director and deputy director. Hime earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hime is a Republican.
Patrick O’Brien, 68, of Pleasanton, has been appointed to the State Fair Leasing Authority of the California Exposition and State Fair. O’Brien has been chief financial officer at Leisure Sports Inc. since 1994. He was general manager at the Hacienda Owners Association from 1992 to 1994 and principal and project manager at Tracy Hills from 1988 to 1992. O’Brien was a partner at Callahan Pentz Properties from 1983 to 1988 and founder and chairman of the board at Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan from 1972 to 1981. He was a principal at the Patrick J. O’Brien Accountancy Corporation from 1970 to 1983 and a senior level accountant for Touche Ross and Co. from 1966 to 1970. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. O’Brien is a Republican.
