Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

André Schoorl, 56, of Sacramento, has been appointed senior advisor at the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency. Schoorl has been deputy director at the California State Assembly Speaker’s Office of Member Services since 2009. He was director of the California State Speaker’s Office of Member Services, Los Angeles Office from 2003 to 2008, a principal consultant for California State Senate President pro Tempore John Burton from 2000 to 2002 and chief of staff for California State Senator Richard Alarcón in 1999. Schoorl was a consultant for the California State Senate Majority Caucus from 1994 to 1998, for the California State Senate Office of International Relations from 1992 to 1993, for the California State Senate Office of Demographics from 1991 to 1992 and for California State Senate President pro Tempore David Roberti from 1985 to 1990. He was a research assistant for the California State Senate Select Committee on Small Business Enterprises in 1984 and an assistant for the California State Senate Special Services in 1983. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $145,008. Schoorl is a Democrat.

Richard Wade, 60, of Pollock Pines, has been reappointed to the California State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection, where he has served since 2011. Wade has held multiple positions at Sierra Pacific Industries since 1995, including district manager and district forester. He was a forester at the Cal Oak Lumber Company from 1983 to 1995 and at James Nicklos and Associates from 1980 to 1983. Wade was a harvest inspector for the U.S. Forest Service from 1979 to 1980 and a forester at Western Timber Services Inc. from 1978 to 1979. He is treasurer on the Forestry Educators Inc. Board of Directors. Wade is a member of the El Dorado County Resource Advisory Committee, the Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum, California Licensed Foresters Association, the Society of American Foresters and the California Native Plant Society. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Wade is a Democrat.
