Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Daniel Arguello, 67, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Department of Veterans Affairs Mexican American Veterans’ Memorial Beautification and Enhancement Committee. Arguello has been principal at Daniel R. Arguello and Associates since 1997. He was mayor of Alhambra in 2000 and 2006 and a city council member from 1998 to 2006. Arguello was a compliance officer at Pacifica Services Inc. from 1996 to 2006 and project coordinator at Cordoba Corporation from 1988 to 1997. He was a contract compliance officer at the Century Freeway Affirmative Action Committee from 1982 to 1984 and district office manager for California State Assemblymember Richard Alatorre from 1977 to 1982. He served in the 25th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Arguello is a Democrat.

David Field, 60, of Covelo, has been appointed to the California Naturopathic Medicine Committee, where he has served since 2010. Field has been owner of David R. Field, ND, LAc since 1985. He is a member of the California State Oriental Medicine Association, the California Naturopathic Doctors Association and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Field earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from National College of Naturopathic Medicine. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Field is registered Green Party.

Dara Tobias, 42, of Tres Pinos, has been appointed to the 33rd District Agricultural Association, San Benito County Fair Board of Directors. Tobias has been a bookkeeper at Bianchi Kasavan and Pope LLP since 2000. She was an entry office clerk at the San Benito County Fair from 2000 to 2010, a bookkeeper at Bianchi and Company from 1994 to 1995 and a veterinarian assistant at the Hollister Veterinary Clinic from 1989 to 1994. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Tobias is a Democrat.
