SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Karm Bains, 40, of Yuba City, has been reappointed to the 13th District Agricultural Association, Yuba-Sutter Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Bains has been owner-partner at Coldwell Banker Commercial Valley Brokers since 2010 and owner and operator of Karmdeep S. Bains Farms-Bains Ranches since 2006. He was farm manager at Didar Singh Bains Farms from 1992 to 2006. Bains is a member of the Yuba City Planning Commission, the Sutter County Board of Education, the Walnut Bargaining Association Board of Directors, the California Cling Peach Association Board of Directors, the Prune Bargaining Association Board of Directors, the Rideout Health Foundation Board of Directors and the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Bains is registered without party preference.
Jim Clark, 81, of Markleeville, has been reappointed to the 18th District Agricultural Association, Eastern Sierra Tri-Counties Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 1990. Clark held multiple positions at Bank of America from 1952 to 1986, including manager and loan officer. He is founder of the Alpine County Democratic Central Committee and a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West and the Alpine County Historical Society, where he served as president from 1972 to 1973. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Clark is a Democrat.
Jeri Gill, 44, of Napa, has been appointed to the 25th District Agricultural Association, Napa Town and Country Fair Board of Directors. Gill has been chief executive officer at Sustainable Napa County since 2008 and was public affairs manager at Napa Valley Vintners from 2000 to 2008. She was executive director of the Lodi-Woodbridge Winegrape Commission’s Lodi Conference and Visitors Bureau from 1998 to 2000 and program director at the San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation from 1997 to 1998. Gill was executive director of the Benicia Vallejo Humane Society from 1995 to 1997 and exhibits assistant at the Solano County Fair Association from 1992 to 1996. She is chair of the Napa-Lake Workforce Investment Board and a member of the Napa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and California Women for Agriculture. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gill is registered without party preference.
Missy Marino, 54, of Sonora, has been appointed to the 29th District Agricultural Association, Mother Lode Fair Board of Directors. Marino has been an administrative assistant at ServiceMaster Sierras since 2013. She held multiple positions at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit from 1982 to 2013, including finance office technician and Baseline Conservation Camp office technician. Marino was an office assistant at the California Department of Corrections Sierra Conservation Center from 1979 to 1982. She is a member of the San Marino Farm Bureau and member of the Board of Directors and secretary-treasurer of the Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Marino is a Republican.
Janice Lauppe, 61, of Alturas, has been reappointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Lauppe was a teacher for the Modoc Joint Unified School District from 1989 to 2012. She is a life member of the California Teachers Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Lauppe is registered without party preference.
