SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Ernest Cabral, 51, of Penngrove, has been reappointed to the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Commission, where he has served since 2013. Cabral has been an independent certified natural foods chef since 2013. He was a Farmers insurance agent at Ted Cabral Insurance Services from 2009 to 2010 and general manager at Cycle West Honda Suzuki from 1994 to 2013. Cabral is chairman of the Sonoma County Flood Advisory Committee and a member of the Sierra Club, the Marin County Motorcycle Association and the American Motorcyclist Association. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cabral is a Democrat.
Erik Howell, 47, of Pismo Beach, has been appointed to the California Coastal Commission. Howell has been a Pismo Beach city council member since 2012 and an attorney in private practice since 1993. Howell is a member of the Pismo Beach Lions Club and of the Shell Beach Improvement Group Board of Directors, where he has been a member since 2008. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Howell is a Democrat.
