Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

John Carvelli, 51, of Newport Beach, has been reappointed to the California State Athletic Commission, where he has served since 2013. Carvelli has been executive vice president of the LIBERTY Dental Plan companies since 2004. He was president of Medimanager Inc. from 1999 to 2003 and a health care consultant at Empire Pacific LLC from 1996 to 2004. He is a member of the Team 100 Food for Kids Board of Directors and the Parents Television Council Advisory Board. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Carvelli is a Republican.

Robert Alvarado, 61, of Pinole, has been appointed to the California Transportation Commission, where he has served since 2006. Alvarado has been executive officer at the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council since 2001. He is co-chair of the Carpenter Funds Administrative Office Corporate Board and a member of the Drexel University Board of Advisors. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Alvarado is a Democrat.

Frances Inman, 67, of Santa Ana, has been reappointed to the California Transportation Commission, where she has served since 2011. Inman has been founding president of the Majestic Realty Foundation since 2002 and senior vice president at Majestic Realty Co. since 1996. Inman is a member of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Freight Advisory Committee and co-chair of the Project Delivery and Operations subcommittee. She is a board of directors member at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, California Business Properties Association, San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, Inland Action and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. Inman is a member of the University of Redlands Board of Trustees. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University, Fullerton. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Inman is a Republican.
