Governor and First Lady Honor Chief Warrant Officer Edward Balli

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Chief Warrant Officer Edward Balli, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol. Chief Warrant Officer Balli’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Chief Warrant Officer Edward Balli, 42, of Monterey, CA, died January 20, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when he was attacked by insurgents. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army Europe, Vilseck, Germany. Chief Warrant Officer Balli was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
