SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Davood Ghods, 53, of Folsom, has been appointed chief of the Office of Technology Services at the California Department of Technology. Ghods has been deputy director for enterprise information services at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation since 2012. He was information technology services director at Auriga Corporation from 2011 to 2012, senior manager at Ernst and Young LLP from 2009 to 2011 and an agency information officer for the California Department of Food and Agriculture from 2006 to 2009. Ghods was chief information officer at the California Department of Consumer Affairs from 2005 to 2006 and served in multiple positions at the Stephen P. Teale Data Center from 2002 to 2005 and from 1987 to 2001, including assistant director and chief of the Project Management Office, local area network support manager and performance analyst. He served in multiple positions at the California Department of Information and Technology from 2001 to 2002, including deputy director and division chief. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $135,576. Ghods is registered decline-to-state.
Ron Hughes, 57, of Gold River, has been appointed chief deputy director of operations at the California Department of Technology, where he has served as chief of the Office of Technology Services since 2012. He was president of the California Data Center Design Group from 2002 to 2012 and was director of data center design at Telegis Networks Inc. from 2000 to 2002. Hughes served in multiple positions at the Stephen P. Teale Data Center from 1990 to 1999, including director of the Y2K event management center and project manager. He served in multiple positions at the California State Controller’s Office from 1980 to 1990, including staff services manager, budget officer and internal auditor. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $139,524. Hughes is registered decline-to-state.
Andrea Wallin-Rohmann, 46, of Folsom, has been appointed chief deputy director of policy at the California Department of Technology. She has served in multiple positions at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation since 1998, including deputy director of human resources, chief information officer, project director of the business information system, special assistant to the deputy director of the financial services division and administrative assistant. Wallin-Rohmann served as an associate personnel analyst at the California Franchise Tax Board from 1997 to 1998, an office technician and staff services analyst at the California Department of Corrections from 1993 to 1997 and an office assistant at the California Department of Personnel Administration from 1990 to 1993. She earned a Master of Arts degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $139,524. Wallin-Rohmann is a Democrat.
Lori Ajax, 48, of Fair Oaks, has been appointed chief deputy director of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, where she has served in multiple positions since 1998, including deputy division chief, district administrator and supervising investigator. Ajax was an investigator at the California Fair Political Practices Commission from 1997 to 1998 and at the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control from 1995 to 1997. She was an office technician at the California Legislative Data Center in 1994 and an office assistant at the California Legislative Counsel Bureau in 1993. Ajax is a member of the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association and the St. Sava Mission Foundation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $124,800. Ajax is a Republican.
Erick Orellana, 47, of Long Beach, has been appointed deputy commissioner of the California Department of Business Oversight, Division of Credit Unions. Orellana has been chief executive officer at Nikkei Credit Union since 2004. He was chief executive officer at the Southern California Postal Credit Union from 2000 to 2004, a compliance consultant at the California Credit Union League in 2000 and vice president and office manager at LBS Financial Credit Union from 1999 to 2000. Orellana was a compliance consultant at California Credit Union League in 1999 and was a branch manager at the San Mateo Credit Union from 1998 to 1999 and at the ARCO Credit Union from 1992 to 1997. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $108,000. Orellana is a Democrat.
Allen Schaad, 65, of Sacramento, has been appointed to California Board of Pharmacy. Schaad has been a staff pharmacist at RxRelief since 2013. He was director of pharmacy at Mercy General Hospital from 2012 to 2013 and from 1999 to 2007. Schaad was director of pharmacy at Woodland Memorial Hospital from 2007 to 2012, where he was pharmacy supervisor from 1997 to 1999. He was an acute care pharmacist at the Mercy San Juan Medical Center from 1975 to 1997. Schaad earned a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Schaad is a Democrat.
