Governor Brown Appoints Three to Orange County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointments of Thomas A. Glazier, Martha K. Gooding and Robert A. Knox to judgeships in the Orange County Superior Court.

Glazier, 53, of Lake Forest, is an assistant district attorney at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, where he has served in multiple positions since 1989, including senior deputy district attorney and deputy district attorney. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University. Glazier fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on August 24, 2012. Glazier is a Republican.

Gooding, 59, of Newport Beach, has been a partner at Jones Day since 2011. She was an attorney in private practice in 2011 and a partner at Howrey LLP from 2000 to 2011. Gooding was a partner at Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk and Rabkin from 1989 to 2000, where she was an associate from 1983 to 1989. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach. She fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge David Thompson to the Court of Appeal. Gooding is a Democrat.

Knox, 57, of Irvine, has been an attorney in private practice since 2013. He served as an assistant public defender at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office from 1984 to 2013 and was a law clerk and associate attorney at the Law Offices of William A. Kerr from 1983 to 1984. Knox earned a Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis. He fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on October 2, 2012. Knox is a Democrat.

The compensation for each of these positions is $181, 292.
