Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Patrick Dorais, 49, of Carmichael, has been appointed chief of the California Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Automotive Repair, where he has served as deputy chief since 2007. Dorais served as deputy chief at the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board in 2007 and at the California Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education from 2004 to 2007. He served in multiple positions at the California Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Automotive Repair from 1995 to 2004, including bureau chief and deputy chief. Dorais was special assistant to the secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency from 1991 to 1995, special assistant to the director of the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research in 1991 and a legislative correspondent in the U.S. Senate from 1987 to 1990. Dorais earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Lincoln Law School of Sacramento. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $119,664. Dorais is a Republican.

Michelle Roulston, 50, of Camarillo, has been appointed administrator of the California Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Home of California, Ventura, where she has served as a supervising registered nurse since 2011 and served as a registered nurse from 2010 to 2011. Roulston was a licensing program analyst at the California Department of Social Services from 1998 to 2010, and a health facilities evaluator nurse at the California Department of Health Services from 1993 to 1998. Roulston served in multiple positions at the Camarillo State Hospital and Developmental Center from 1986 to 1993, including health services specialist and registered nurse. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $115,008. Roulston is a Democrat.

Jason Wimbley, 43, of Elk Grove, has been appointed chief deputy director of the California Health and Human Services Agency Department of Community Services and Development, where he has served as acting chief deputy director since 2013 and has served in various positions since 1995, including staff services manager and associate governmental program analyst. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $105,420. Wimbley is a Democrat.
