Governor and First Lady Honor Spc. Delfin M. Santos Jr.

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Spc. Delfin M. Santos Jr., who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, flags will be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Spc. Santos’ family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Spc. Delfin M. Santos Jr., 24, of San Jose, CA died April 6, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device in Zabul, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA. Santos was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
