SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Felix Yip, 58, of San Marino, has been appointed to the Medical Board of California. Yip has been the chief executive officer at Felix Chi-Ming Yip MD Inc. Medical Clinic since 1987. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Yip is a Republican.
Kathleen King, 56, of Saratoga, has been appointed to the Dental Board of California. King has been the executive director of the Santa Clara Family Health Foundation since 2008. She served in multiple positions at the City of Saratoga from 2002 to 2010, including mayor and council member. King held multiple positions at Applied Materials Inc., including senior director from 1981 to 2000. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. King is a Democrat.
Thomas Stewart, 66, of Bakersfield, has been appointed to the Dental Board of California. Stewart has been a dentist in private practice since 1976. He was a member of the United States Naval Reserve from 1978 to 1997 and a member of the Dental Corps of the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976. Stewart earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Stewart is a Republican.
Phillip Serna, 44, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Air Resources Board. Serna has served as a Sacramento County supervisor since 2010. He was principal at Serna Consulting LLC from 2004 to 2009, project manager at Reynen and Bardis Communities from 2003 to 2004 and vice president of governmental affairs at the Home Builders Association of Northern California, BIA Bay Area from 1996 to 2002. Serna is chair of the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District and has been a member since 2011. He is a member of the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District, Sacramento Transportation Authority and the Sacramento Area Council of Governments. Serna earned a Master of Arts degree in city and regional planning from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Serna is a Democrat.
